JOY DIVISION'S 'UNKNOWN PLEASURES' COVER ART PRINTED IN 3D
Zoellner wanted to recreate the cover art after watching Grant Gee's documentary Joy Division. The original design represents the frequency of signal from a pulsating star, often perceived by diehard Joy Division as a pulse of power, bass and angst.
After failing to render visualised waveforms, Zoellner traced the image by hand. He then layered and retouched his sketch using AutoCAD and OpenSCAD before 3D printing with white PLA filament, resulting in an edgy, icy effect.
