THE JAPANESE POSTER FOR KING KONG IS RAD
Last week, the Japanese poster for upcoming movie Kong: Skull Island hit the Internet, certain to catch the eye of any Kaiju-loving film buff and stirring up some much needed buzz ahead of its release. The director of the movie, Jordan Vogt-Roberts, tweeted out the poster on Tuesday with the tag “Can we talk about how great our Japanese Kaiju poster is?” Yes. Yes, we can.

Moving away from the dinosaurs and *gag* Jack Black featured in Peter Jackson’s decade-old King Kong, Vogt-Roberts told Gamespot that he was inspired by the creature design of Hayao Miyazaki. This is an exciting prospect; hopefully it'll bring some fresh inspiration into the monster movie subgenre as a whole and Kong in particular, following Jackson's lacklustre effort.

A clear homage to the rad Kaiju posters of the 70s and 80s, it’s also good to see that after the straightfaced awards season we’ll have a little more fun back in cinemas. Kong Skull Island is set for a 10th March release, here's the trailer for good measure:
