Nike Air Foamposite One “Galaxy”

When this shoe was released in February, it created utter pandemonium. The Air Foamposite One is one of Nike's most popular and most distinctive shapes in rotation. By spiking this already loved style with a shot of super-hyped trendiness, Nike virtually guaranteed its commercial success. They also refused to make these available online, and limited release quantities to further build demand.

Some sources claim that queues started building up to two weeks before the shoes' 24 February release date, though even popular US sneaker outlets like House of Hoops received very limited stocks. The night of the release, riots broke out most notably in Orlando, Florida, forcing the stores to shut and police to crack down. Originally selling for approximately £170, their resale value is around £800-£1000.  

To be honest, we don't love the shape of the Air Foamposite One's upper, but that's neither here nor there. We also have a sneaking suspicion that the sole is glow-in-the-dark, but no corroboration on that theory yet. 

Black Milk Clothing's Galaxy Leggings

Black Milk is known for their super-sexy, body-hugging material and wild prints. No shock, then, that they attacked the galaxy print with a vengeance. Their galaxy series includes a swimsuit, a dress, a skirt, and six different color patterns of leggings. While the swimsuit looks fantastic, we’re not sure just how wearable it actually is. For applicability and versatility, we just can’t get enough of the leggings. And at just under £50 per pair, we think they’re well worth it. Black Milk sourced the images for the prints from NASA, and include in their descriptions which galaxy is depicted. Below is shown the Head Horse Nebula, left, and a Reflection galaxy in the Orion Nebula, right. 

Jeffrey Campbell x Black Milk Clothing Galaxy Series

Another pair of shoes garnering massive attention are the Jeffery Campbell x Black Milk Clothing Night Lita Galaxy boot. With the signature cut-away heel, the Night Lita is already futuristic-looking shoe. Made of Black Milk Clothing's beautiful print, the Night Lita is a sight to behold. Available for presale on Solestruck for just under £200, the estimated shipping date is 15 July. Also in the galaxy series are the Damsel and 99 Tie shapes, which are more wearable but less striking. Almost unrelated but worth a mention is JC's patent leather Lita boot in a non-Black Milk galaxy print. In circular order from left to right: the Night Lita, the Damsel, the 99 Tie, and the Lita. 

Stussy Galaxy Jacket

Famed streetwear brand Stussy the galaxy jacket below this spring, but only in Japan. They've done a fantastic job with the all-over pattern; it's busy but not overwhelming. We also like the kelly green accents- that color hasn't been around in a minute. We've been all over the bold colors and especially love them in this thoroughly 90s iteration. This jacket makes us want to watch Space Jams, and any apparel that can do that is good apparel indeed. 

Shadowplay NYC

Ximena Chouza and Ali Bennaim, the two designers of Shadowplay NYC, are united by an obsession with space and an education from Parson's School of Design in NYC. Their independent label uses fabric digitally printed with images taken by the Hubble Space Telescope, and each piece plays with the combination of print and structure. Their collection includes dresses, skirts, tee shirts and scarves, so you can be decked out in stardust, whatever the occasion. The best part? Their materials are sourced locally and are handmade by Ximena and Ali. Most of the pieces are available for under £100.
