MISHKA X GRIME
MISHKA X GRIME
When Americans like British things it's always a little embarrassing. Have you ever seen American Teddy Boy Greg? He's what making fun of people on the internet was invented for (ask him a facetious question on his Tumblr and get back a furious caps-lock answer filled with racial slurs and accusations of jealousy, it's old style internet flame war, I can't get enough). Also American dubstep is the worst thing ever, but you knew that.
Sometimes it's nice when they show an interest in your stuff, like when your older brother asks you to make him a mixtape because he likes a song he heard coming out of your room. It's nice that 11 years into the game, our friends in the New World are finally showing an interest in our naughtiest national export, grime. Dizzee is playing there a bunch, and Danny Brown did that great track with Darq E. Freaker, plus I'm sure there's other stuff going on too (maybe America isn't that hyped, but it's good someone's trying).
Mishka is getting psyched on grime in their new lookbook - lazily titled 'Grime' - which features the great and the good of grime past and present, including Newham Generals, Spooky and Darq E. Freaker, so maybe this is the shot in the arm grime in the US needs... Fingers crossed D Double makes a million quid in 2013!
