It's tough to believe this is Nubiyan Twist's first official single. The guys in the band have been energising crowds with their excellent live shows for a while now, so they've garnered a loyal following befitting seasoned vets. Even ignoring the word-of-mouth rep, Figure Numatic is a strong debut, seamlessly blending all sorts of genres that, on paper, should sound like total shit when combined. Yet Nubiyan Twist can juggle them all easily, creating a weird Afrobeat/Neo-Soul/Hip-Hop style that sounds pretty flawless to me.
