BRILLIANT IDEAS FOR THE ELECTION #4:
04 Tuesday 04th May 2010
Choice is good. And so is change. It makes people feel like they’re in control of things. Take washing powder; if Daz Liquitabs aren’t bringing your smalls up whiter than white, then you can change to Ariel Excel Gel. Ignore the fact that the two brands are made by the same company in the same factory using the same ingredients – it’s the illusion of change that counts.
Yes, change is a beautiful thing, so long as it doesn’t change anything for the people in charge. That’s why so many important people have been generously giving their time and energy, reminding us how awful things would be if they lost all their power and influence. It’s really important that you remember all this, so here are the key points again.
A change to the political system could create a hung parliament. This is bad, because hung parliaments are run via backroom deals that benefit politicians, not you. These new backroom deals are entirely different to the current type of backroom deals that go on now.
Too much change will make the markets unstable and bring down the value of the Pound; a bit like the unstable markets and low Pound we have now, but a little bit different, and a lot worse.
All this change would send businesses running from the country, and unemployment would go up. Yes, unemployment has gone up under the trusted old system, but it could rise in new and terrifyingly different ways if we changed things.
But don’t worry. There’s no cause for alarm, so long as you vote for the right kind of change. Watch this helpful video, remember what to do on May 6th, and then you get back to doing whatever makes you happy.
