PROBABLY THE MOST RUBBISH JOB IN THE WORLD
Just last week a similar campaign was launched in the Gaza Strip. Probably the Most Rubbish Job in the World will open the floodgates for applications at the end of the month and hopes to find a suitable applicant who will spend up to six months in the occupied territory. The lucky winner will be paid absolutely nothing and will have to struggle, along with 45 percent of the population which are unemployed, to find work in an economy decimated by years of bombing, import restrictions and wanton destruction of farmland by the IDF. Accommodation will not be provided and the winner of Probably the Most Rubbish Job in the World will have to build his shelter with his bare hands like the 4,100 Palestinians whose homes were destroyed in the recent Israeli invasion.

The winner is expected to write a daily blog on his fun-packed experiences of surviving on the average of about £7 a day. The Palestinian Ministry for Tourism has a rigorous selection process planned, which is to include blogging under missile fire from unmanned Israeli drones and devising ingenious ways to get through the Israeli security checks in order to visit dying relatives.

Tourism minister Khouloud Daibes
Palestinian Tourist Minister Khouloud Daibes said: “Gaza is currently in the perfect state for hosting the Probably the Most Rubbish Job in the World competition. Everyday Gazan’s feel the effects of sanctions imposed by Israel after the election of Hamas in 2007. All sorts of imports essential for basic infrastructure are refused entry such as concrete, steel, pipes and other industrial equipment. So we have no supplies for repairing the water and sewage systems and the electricity networks.
“As a result about 90 percent of people suffer power cuts and the rest have no electricity at all. 32,000 people in a population of 1.5 million have no running water and 100,000 or so get water only once in every two or three days. Infectious diseases such as diarrhoea and viral hepatitis have risen sharply due to bad water and sanitation.”
