Adbusters' Buy Nothing Day takes place on 29 Nov as a counterweight to the thoughtless frenzy of Christmas consumerism that is about to sweep the nation. In this short film Neil Boorman shows how consumerism has become a way of life and the benchmark by which we judge each other. However, we cannot shop ourselves out of the current economic crisis and the idea that we can (encouraged by government, economists and brands) is the reason we have found ourselves in this mess in first place.
